US REP. Jay Inslee currently in India to promote
trade opportunities in the information technology
sector. Inslee was the keynote speaker at the Third Annual Baramati
Initiative on Information Communications Technology and Development,
a three-day conference held to explore how information technology is
being used as a tool to empower the poor.
As part of this,
Inslee also visited seelampur madarsa on a Digital Partner and
Datamation Foundation supported programme of educating Muslim girls
on the use on information technology.
While in India, Inslee
is also spoke to India business leaders at three CII (Confederation
of India Industries) Iunches in New Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. He also
met with technology firms, such as Microsoft, G.E., Datamation and
MAQ Software.
Inslee’s district
includes many of the world’s leading information technology firms.
Inslee was keenly interested in finding ways to expand markets for
Washington state technology products, and to enhance the power
economic development in a country that is the world’s largest
democracy and second-largest Muslim population.
Inslee
is a member of the Congressional Caucus on India. Inslee’s trip
was sponsored by Digital Partners, a non-profit development
organization that seeks to alleviate poverty through the digital
economy and information technology .
